Gull Lake Fishing Report Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
The Walleye certainly seem to have shifted into a fall mode.
Fish have been very easy to locate on most of the usual
spots anywhere from 14 to 22 feet. The problem is that some
still seem to be a bit reluctant to bite. However if you
find that to be the case and keep looking its been much
easier to find a feeding school. Lindy Rigs and Chubs are
the best during the daylight hours. The north end of the
lake seems to be going the best esp. on the east half of the
lake.
Not too many people are chasing the Bass or Northern Pike
now that the Walleye have turned on but if you decide to do
so I would suggest looking deeper than what you might
normally do. Some of the humps in Wilson Bay are actually
holding some very nice Bass in 20 to 24 feet of water.
Good luck and stay safe

The walleye bit continues to be strong. Work redtail chubs
using a Lindy Rig along the drop offs during the morning and
evening. From sunset on switch to a shad rap and troll the
deep edge of the weedline (7-13 feet). The walleyes are very
active and although you will catch both smaller and larger
walleyes getting a stringer full has not been a problem!
Come join the fun before the fall bit subsides.
Great specials are
available now.

Gull Lake Fishing Report Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
The fall bite is on!! The fishing on Gull Lake is great!
Walleyes are being caught by day along the edges of the
drop-offs in 18-30 feet of water. A redtail chub seems to
work best. At dusk switch to a shad rap SR-5 work the top of
the drop off just outside the weed line. You dont have to
go far from Gull Four Seasons Resort as the Cinosam flats
are working well. Lots of Northern Pike coming in as well a
favorite spot is always either side of Squaw (Gull) Point.
Use anything flashy. The Largemouth Bass are biting also,
people fishing off the docks are getting some really nice
bass!
Get up north and get on the water,
The bite is on now!

Gull Lake Fishing Report Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
It certainly appears that we are moving into the fall
fishing pattern. More and more Walleye are starting to show
up on most of the area lakes and Gull is no exception.
Finding fish in 14 to 20 feet of water is becoming easier on
a daily basis. At times they are still a bit reluctant to
bite but if a person keeps looking it seems that sooner or
later the hungry group will be found. Generally a Lindy
Rig and a Chub have been working the best but Leeches are
also producing some fish.
If Bass or Northern are what youre after they also continue
to be quite cooperative. A jig and minnow fished slowly
through the deeper weed edges is still working well.
Position the boat in 15 or 16 feet of water, cast up into
the weeds and make a slow retrieve and you should find some
good action.
Good luck and be safe

Gull Lake Fishing Report Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
The walleye bite has begun! Yesterday I was
greeted on the dock by a smiling Glen Belgum of the Nisswa
Guides League. He said he has been having good walleye
fishing on Gull Lake as of late. Try the edge of the flat in
front of the resort (Cinosam Flats) look for the schools in
the 20s for depth. A redtail chub is now a great bait.
When fishing on Gull Lake for walleyes:
- Check the drop offs and breaks for schools of
fish. If the fish are right on the bottom it is tougher
to get them to bight. A few feet off the bottom is
ideal.
- Throw a float where the school is
and fish the float.
- If the fish wont bite try
another spot, you can check the school a little later
and they may be biting.
The sunfish bite is still fantastic, use a piece of
crawler or a small leech in the cabbage flats.
The Northern Pike bite is best on cloudy days.
It is a great time to be at a Northern MN Resort
come join the fun!

Gull Lake Fishing Report
Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
Fishing success has been on the up and up recently. Walleyes
are being caught using shad rap Sr5s trolling both the drop
off in front of the resort and Gull (Squaw) Point. Troll
these two areas in depths between 8- 15 feet. Northern Pike
are being caught fishing Cinosam flats in about 6 feet using
sucker minnows and a bobber, they are also being caught on
the south side of Gull Point trolling Sr5s, throwing
HJ14s, or just throwing a large sucker minnow and waiting
for the big one to attack. Sunfish have been plentiful and
in large sizes, fish Cinosam Flats and the Hayfield using a
split shot and hook topped with a piece of crawler . Fish
these two spots by putting yourself in about 4-6 feet of
water and once you see weeds at the surface pitch an anchor
and start fishing!
Keep a tight line!

A beautiful week of weather is being topped by some very
good fishing! A few walleyes are being caught, but the
sunfish bite is fantastic. Small leeches and pieces of night
crawlers are providing baskets of sunfish. Try 8-12 feet
near the deeper edge of the cabbage flats. Great eating and
lots of fun to catch.

Gull Lake Fishing Report
Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
The Walleye bite on area lakes is quite
typical for this time of year. The very warm water and an
abundance of baitfish for the Walleye to feed on have slowed
the action and success has been a day to day challenge for
Walleye anglers. This last week I had a very good morning on
Gull Lake on Monday and went right back on Tuesday morning
only to have a tough time until we switched over to Bass
fishing to give the two young boys in the boat some action.
Thankfully the Bass were in a cooperative mood as they
generally are this time of year.
Most of the area lakes are producing a good number of Bass
and a few Pike mixed in with them. If action is what youre
after this is probably your best bet. I would suspect that
sometime later in August or early September we will see a
major change in the Walleye action as the water cools and
some of the forage base gets eaten up.
Good luck and stay safe,
Lenny Hodgson

Gull Lake Fishing Report
Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area Resorts
The fishing on Gull and other area lakes continues to be
very good. Walleye on Gull are now into much more of a
normal summer pattern esp. early in the morning and then
again late in the afternoon. A slow approach with a Lindy
Rig and a Chub or a Leech seems to be drawing the most
attention. The fish are still relatively shallow for the
most part. Depths from 14 to 18 feet have consistently been
the most dependable. The only negative with these shallow
fish is that they tend to be a little spooky. If youre on
fish and they seem to disappear, try another spot and return
to where you have been finding fish after they have had a
chance to calm down and regroup.
Bass action has also picked up considerably in the past
week. Many of the Bass have moved from the shallow spawning
areas and are now on the edges of the deeper drops, often in
8 to 12 feet of water. As often is the case pitching up into
the weed line with a slow retrieve of a jig and soft plastic
bait is a very good approach.
Northern Pike action is starting to pick up also with the
appearance of the new seasons aquatic growth in the lake. A
jig and minnow is a great approach for those looking for
Pike.
Good luck and stay safe

The weather although cool has been consistent and so has the
bite. Some walleyes have been caught using rainbow chubs on
the Bowtie Bar in the evening. Pulling a shad rap along the
drop off on the Cinosam Flats has been producing Northern
Pike in about 6-7 feet of water. After Dark the walleye bite
is on along the same flat in front of our resort with a
consistent catch of 4-6 nice fish per trip. The Panfish
action is still hot in the shallows.

Gull Lake Fishing Report
Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area
The Walleye action on most of the area lakes is starting to
pick up along with the more steady weather. Most of the day
time action is from 14 to 20 feet using a Lindy Rig and a
Red Tail Chub. Most of the bait shops still have Spot Tail
Shiners available but they are not a hardy as the ones we
were getting earlier in the season.
Crappies in most lakes have just started the spawning
process. They are generally in water ranging from 2 to 6
feet in depth to spawn and are quite willing to take a small
jig tipped with a Crappie minnow. If you go after them and
are successful remember they are very vulnerable when
spawning and numbers of fish that are kept should be
reasonable. Leave a few to spawn for the future.
Bass season is now open also but the cool water has them a
bit sluggish. Jigs and soft plastic has been working well
but a slow presentation seems to really be the key.
Good and stay safe

Gull Lake Fishing Report
Brainerd MN & Nisswa Minnesota Area
The weather has been unusual and unsettled. The wind strong
at times seems to change direction daily. The Largemouth
Bass are actively taking everything put in front of them
from a leech to a minnow to a spinner. Try the soft bottom
shallow areas in 3 to 5 feet. A few crappies have come in
but the bite has not really started. The walleyes do bite
when the weather cooperates; try the Hayfield or the Grassy
Point Dutchmans Bluff area. There is a lot of water flowing
into Gull Lake from the chain. The walleyes can be had near
the Bar Harbor Bridge after dark. The sunfish are actively
defending their spawning beds making for some incredible
action!
Good Luck

2010 Gull Lake Minnesota Fishing opener forecast.
Tips and spots to try!
With just a week remaining until the Walleye opener the big
questions as always are where will they be and what will
they be biting on. The where becomes even a bit more
interesting with the late spring weve had and the cold
water temps. Although days like today will start to warm
things up. I would suspect that many of the fish will be
relatively shallow at least early and late in the day. As
the day goes on and esp. if its a clear day the fish will
drop somewhat deeper toward mid day. A Lindy Rig with either
a spot tail shiner or a leech would be a good starting
point. Start in 10 or 12 feet of water and if they cant be
found move deeper. On Gull the north end of the lake will
most likely be where most of the post spawn fish are hanging
around. Cobins Bar, Grassy Point and the Hay Field are all
good places to check. If Gull is tough a trip through
Bishops Creek into Round Lake is always something to
consider. Its a slow trip through shallow water but just
may pay off.
Good luck and stay safe.

Gull Lake Ice Thickness Report
As of Sunday December
26, 2010 we drilled a hole about 200 feet from shore in
front of Gull 4 Seasons Resort. The ice
measured 9 inches thick. On the edge of the Cinosam Flat in
front of the resort the ice was 12 inches thick. In front of
the county road 115 boat launch (site of the
Brainerd Jaycees $100,000 Ice Fishing
Extravaganza) the ice was 14 inches thick
about 50 feet from shore, 1/4 mile from shore, and about 1/2
mile from shore heading west. There is about 6 inches of
snow on Gull Lake in these areas. About 1" of water came on
the ice overnight in these spots. As always use caution when
you do any and everything, including venturing onto the ice.

a "gold" and a "perch" Shad Rap SR-5s, and trolled in 5-8
feet of water (right on top of the flat). We fished for an
hour and a half and between 6:45 and 8:15pm and caught 10
walleyes. Our best depth was 6 feet.

The
walleye bite on Gull Lake continues to be very hot!
Christopher, Scott, Gina & Aaron collected their summer
bonus in the form of a guided fishing trip with Lenny
Hodgson of the Nisswa Guides
League. They had to do some hunting around but did find
some fish willing to cooperate in the 18 to 20 foot depth.
Redtail Chubs on a lindy rig was the right bait. Find the
fish, work the school and if they wont bite, move on. You
will eventually find that hungry school of walleyes for some
great fall fishing.

September 4, 2010
The last few days have certainly begun to feel like fall is
on the way, and the fish are acting as if that were true.
The Walleye action has picked up considerably on many area
lakes and the size also seems to be improving. Gull Lake has
been very good with good numbers of fish still showing up
fairly shallow. A Lindy Rig with a Chub seems to be drawing
the most attention in 14 to 18 feet of water on most spots
with a few deeper fish on the south end of the lake.
Largemouth Bass and Northern fishing continues strong with
the Bass moving deeper on many lakes. A jig and minnow is
producing the best with a slow retrieve. Under the right
conditions (calm water) a deep diving crank bait will also
produce.
Over all I would suspect the fishing, esp. the Walleye
action, will just get better and better as the water cools
down. Fall also seems to be the time of year when that 30
plus inch fish will show up and give a person a great
opportunity for a fine picture.
Good luck and stay safe. As the water cools down that life
jacket becomes even more important.

The weather has been hot, and the fishing has been very
good. I am happy to say that our resorts guests have been
having fantastic luck catching sunfish. The best bet has
been using a piece of night crawler in Love Lake, the weed
bed just south of the Cinosam Flats has been great also.
Trolling over the cabbage has been productive for the
Northern Pike. The flat north of Squaw Point has been a
favorite spot. The Walleyes continue to come in leading to
lots of smiles and lots of great fish dinners! The
Largemouth Bass fishing has been good also.
It is a great time to be on the water!

August 11, 2010
With the heat, bright skies and generally minimal wind the
Walleye bite has slowed. A few fish are still being taken
during the day on the deep weed edges in 14 to 18 feet of
water pulling a Lindy Rig and a Chub. The main part of Gull
has been the best. The fish are actually easy to see with a
flasher or graph but getting them to bite is not such an
easy task.
Bass fishing continues to be quite good on many area lakes.
A lot of the Bass have moved even closer to the deeper edges
are generally being caught in 10 to 14 feet of water with
some even deeper. A very slow presentation with a jig and
minnow or a jig and soft plastic continue to work well.
Northern Pike are showing up in 20 to 30 feet of water which
is actually out from the weed edges and are being caught on
Lindy Rigs tied with braided line to avoid being cut off and
using a 1/2 ounce sinker and large Chub or Sucker Minnow.
Good luck and stay safe

What a great week of fishing on Gull Lake for our report!
The walleye bite was hot. Anglers who got up with the sun
and trolled with a shad rap in 12-20 feet of water found
some nice walleyes along the Cinosam Flats as well as the
Bow Tie Bar. Walleyes were also being caught using Lindy
Rigs and redtailed chubs in 15-18 feet along the edge of the
Cinosam Flats. This method seemed most productive in the
morning. The sunfish bite was strong using small leeches or
a piece of night crawler in the deeper cabbage flats fishing
in 8-12 feet of water. Gull Lake is holding lots of nice
fish and the baitfish population doesnt seem as large as it
was last year. Looks like a great fall for fishing is fast
aproaching!!!

The
walleye fishing has been looking up in our Beautiful
Brainerd Lakes Area with each passing day! Over the past
week the Gull Lake catch has been increasing from a few fish
a day to catching 6-7 keepers each outing. The weapon of
choice at this point is Shad Raps (SR-5), trolling on the
edge of the weed line in about 12 feet or so of water.
Another effective way to go after them is using a Lindy
Rig with a spinner and a leech or crawler. The fish have
been found mainly on the Cinosam Flats and the Rock Pile.
The big sun fish are being found on the Hay Field in about 8
feet of water. Just look for the weeds to come to the
surface and drop an anchor. Use a hook and sinker set up
topped with a crappie minnow or a piece of a crawler to
catch these. Norhtern Pike are being caught on the weed line
(8-12) on the Cinosam Flats as well as trolling around
Squaw Point, Shad raps and sucker minnows have been
effective.
Good Luck and keep your line wet!

Walleye fishing has moved into more of a mid-summer pattern
on Gull Lake. The days which provide some walleye "chop" and
a bit of cloud cover have been the best by far. There are
some fish to be found along the deep weed edges which on
most lakes means from 14 to 16 feet of water. There also is
another group of walleye which have moved to deeper water.
Most fish that are being taken are coming on a Lindy Rig and
Chub combination. Some fish are also being taken after dark
pulling crank baits.
Bass fishing has been very good on almost all of the
Brainerd Area lakes and some very nice Northern Pike are
also showing up. The bass are still responding well to a jig
tipped with a soft plastic bait. Many of the Bass are a bit
deeper, generally in the 8 to 12 foot range.
Good luck and stay safe

Bluegill, Pumpkinseed & Green Sunfish Are Biting!
The panfish and bass fishing has been phenomenal as of
recent, with nice sunfish being found around the Cinosam
Flats, the hay field, and Love Lake. The big sunnies have
been being caught on crappie minnows as well as night
crawlers and pan fish leeches. Look for weeds over the side
of the boat in 6-12 feet, and when you see a large amount of
weeds near the surface, pitch an anchor over the side and get
ready for some major action! As for Northern Pike, they are
still being caught trolling around Squaw Point (Gull Point),
as well as the Cinosam Flats, I would suggest an SR-5 Shad
Rap trolling in 6-10 feet on the edge of the weed line.
Good Luck!

July 3, 2010
Walleye action has slowed considerably on most of the area
lakes which is typical for this time of year. A few fish are
still being caught on the deep weed edges with Lindy Rig and
minnow or leech combinations. A good number of Bass are also
occupying the same areas so there is plenty of action but
not always the Walleye you may be looking for.
Bass fishing is very good especially on somewhat calmer days
when throwing a jig and plastic worm or a jig and minnow
into the deeper weeds can be done. In fishing this technique
it's likely that a Northern Pike will also show up.
Good luck and be safe

With the warm weather the panfish action has gotten hot as
well! Families have been having a blast catching sunfish
(about 1 in 3 is very large) in Love Lake. A few fishing
guests have been treated to some great crappie action in
Wilson Bay of Gull Lake (see our
crappie hot spots) using a mister twister. As the
cabbage beds fill in the sunfish should move out to the 8-12
foot weed line. A Minnesota Vacation and sunfish, you cant
beat that!

The Bite Is On !
The slow start to the Walleye season seems to have turned
the corner. Fish are showing up in more and more of the
regular spots and the good news is that they are hungry. A
Lindy Rig with a chub seems to be the best bet but leeches
are also a good choice. On Gull Lake the majority of the
fish are in 14 to 20 feet of water with the somewhat deeper
fish tending to be a bit larger.
Bass are also doing very well on several of the area lakes.
A mushroom jig with a plastic worm such as a Berkley Power
Worm is a good choice. Most of the fish that I've been
finding are anywhere in the 6 to 12 foot range. Don't be
afraid to use a very slow presentation.
Good luck and stay safe

The
wind and rain didn't stop these Jackson Minnesota fishermen.
The Largemouth Bass Hot Spots took them right to the fish!
They cast frogs over the lily pads in Love Lake, and had a
great afternoon of fishing.
p.s. We trolled for walleyes for a couple of hours around
sunset last night. We caught 5 walleyes.
See you on the lake!

Fishing action in the Brainerd Lakes Resort Area remains
very good. The Gull Lake
Hot Spots continue to put out the fish. The Largemouth Bass
have been biting like crazy, and seem to be taking
everything from leaches to crawlers, and spinners to frogs.
The sizes have been pretty good as well, with many being
caught between 2 and 3 pounds. Sunfish have been hitting
hard as well on crawlers. Crappies are still biting fairly
well up in the Gull Narrows by the Zorbas Bridge, They are
being caught using a bobber and a crappie minnow. Walleyes
have still been being consistently caught on the Cinosam
flats using shiners and Lindy Rigs and also Shad Raps,
look for the walleyes to start moving out deeper as the
water temperature rises, but for right now with a cloudy
week everything is staying fairly shallow.
See you on the lake!

May 31,
2010
As of Saturday we have added Bass to the list of open
seasons. I was out with a group this morning and the action
was pretty much non-stop. Many of the fish were smaller
males but we had a number of nicer fish also. The main goal
was to keep one of the group members who was very new to
fishing interested and with lots of cooperation from the
fish that was not a problem.
Walleye fishing is starting to come around more and more
each day. The relatively slow start to the Walleye bite is
still a bit of a mystery but they are beginning to show more
interest.
The early Crappie bite which was fantastic is slowing some
as the fish finish their spawning and disperse to deeper
water. Many anglers spent a bit more time chasing Crappies
this spring when the Walleye seemed to have a case of
"lockjaw".
With the water temps warming up nicely we seem to be moving
quite quickly into more of a summer pattern for most of our
fishing. The good news with that is that both Bass and
Walleye will start to school up more and more and be found
in the usual locations. Right now it seems that a Red Tailed
Chub on a Lindy Rig is a good choice for the Walleye and a
Mushroom Jig Head with a 7" Berkley Power Worm will get the
attention of the Bass. As is usually the case a slow
presentation with the worm is generally the best.
Good luck and be safe

The Crappie bite continues to be hot at times in the Gull
Lake Narrows. Here is a nice basket of Crappies caught on
Crappie Minnows this morning.
See you on the water!

| Memorial Day May 31,
2010 |
The Memorial Day Weekend tradition of great fishing
continues. Our resort was booked and lots of vacationers
enjoyed a beautiful weekend in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
There were lots of trips to empty the garbage pail in the
fish cleaning house! Love Lake was producing Largemouth Bass
& Sunfish in the shallows. Leeches and pieces of
nightcrawlers were the meal ticket there. Crappies were
coming in from Love Lake, and the Bar Harbor area. Gull Lake
produced some 20 inch plus walleyes off the Cinosam flats.
Go Johnnies!

May 17, 2010
Another Walleye and Northern opener has come and gone with
mostly happy fishermen. The weather was as good as I can
remember for a very long time and the fish were at least
mildly cooperative on most of the area lakes. Gull Lake of
course was the center of a great deal of attention as it
always seems to be for opener. Walleye were being caught in
the greatest number on the north end of the lake. There were
several people I visited with that found some good fish
still in the channel near the Bar Harbor area. A couple of
people fishing off the pier near Zorbas did quite well early
Sat. morning. There were also fish being caught early in the
day in the Grassy Point area as well as The Hay Field. With
the clear skies and no real wind the bite was generally
early and then done.
Several people I visited with chose to go after Crappies
when the Walleye action slowed down and they too did well.
It looks as though the weather for this week will be more of
the same and the idea of Walleye early and Crappies as the
sun gets higher is not a bad plan at all esp. if there is
minimal wind to create a "Walleye Chop".
As far as bait I would certainly recommend Spot Tailed
Shiners on a Lindy Rig or jig. Having a few leeches along is
never a bad idea either.
Good luck and stay safe

May 16, 2010
Another Minnesota fishing opener has once again come and
gone, with beautiful weather and great results! Saturday
morning started a bit slow with the walleyes being caught on
Lindy Rigs topped with a spot tailed shiner, we found the
best spots to be near Rocky Point
and Dutchmans Bluff. Saturday
evening had a lot of action and some nice size walleyes to
go along with it we were trolling Sr-5 Shad Raps in 6-8 feet
on the edge of the drop-off in front of Gull Four Seasons
Resort, the action really picked up just as the sun was
setting. Sunday evening was again another attempt with Shad-
Raps, and again as the sun was getting low the walleye
action was getting high, the sizes were pretty good with a
few small ones scattered in with some nice eaters between
17-19 inches!
We will see you on the Lake!

| Gull Lake 2010 Fishing Opener
Forecast |
May 1, 2010
The Walleye and Northern Pike openers are fast approaching
and it appears that lots of folks are more than ready. It
should be very interesting finding them with the much
earlier than usual spring we've enjoyed. I would suspect the
Walleyes will likely be a bit deeper than many openers but
likely in the mood to feed. In the meantime the Crappie and
Bluegill fishing continues to be very good on the warmer
days especially when we have moderate winds. On many of the
lakes it seems that the Crappie especially have moved from
the shallow little bays and channels and have begun to stage
near the areas that they will eventually spawn in. A small
jig fished below a bobber still seems to be the ticket. Last
week a friend and I were out and did very well. We used
Crappie minnows, wax worms and also tube jigs and it seemed
the fish didn't have a real huge favorite.
Good luck and remember to be safe.

April 10, 2010
The Crappie and Sunfish action is really starting to pick up
with the warmer temperatures and the warming waters in the
shallow bays and channels. The Bar Harbor area on the north
end of Gull Lake has been quite good especially in the early
morning hours. A small jig fished below a bobber with either
a Crappie Minnow or a Waxworm have both been working well.
If you're looking specifically for Crappies the minnow is
probably best. If Sunfish are also on your agenda a Waxworm
will attract both. Don't hesitate to go very small with your
jig choice.
With the early ice out we're actually getting a bit of
"bonus time" this spring. Often we would still be looking at
ice this time of year. As the waters warm I would expect
fish to start showing up in more and more areas and the bite
to improve also.
Good luck and stay safe

The Ice is out on Gull Lake!
The Ice went out overnight, after being
pushed hard by strong south winds. The earliest ice out was
missed by a day (April 2, 2000) last year the ice went out
on April 23.

The ice has gone out on Round Lake this afternoon. The ice
on Gull Lake is piling up on Sandy Point & the north shore
of Gull Lake. There is out about 1 mile of water in front of
the resort.

The amazing weather continues in the Brainerd Lakes Area of
Minnesota! After the strong south winds yesterday the
Highway 371 Bay of North Long Lake went out this morning.
Round Lake of the Gull Lake Chain has 60% plus of ice cover.
There is about 80 feet of water in front of the resort. The
ice on Gull Lake moved about 100 feet yesterday piling up
somewhat on the north shore. Fishing can't be too far away
now!

March 27th 2010
All indications are that we're headed for a super early ice
out this year. There are a few hardy anglers that are
already fishing from the docks at Bar Harbor and Zorbaz on
the Upper Gull channels. This morning however a south wind
and some floating ice put the end to the Bar Harbor docks
for at least a short time. It won't be long and we'll be in
the boats chasing the Crappies. What ice we have left in the
area is extremely hazardous. It is time to put the ice auger
away till next season.

Feb. 11 2010
Again the age old question
. . . If winter is here can spring be far behind?
For the most part the ice
fishing is winding down. We can still expect some good
Crappie and Sunfish action right up until the ice is no
longer safe to venture out on. Still, most of the locals you
visit with are gearing up for spring and open water.
My hope is for an early ice
out and several weeks of good early season Crappie action.
Last year the south end of Gull was very good, but the bite
was quite late. We were still finding Crappie in the
shallows right into early June. Of course that took quite a
bit of pressure off them due to the fact that many anglers
had turned their attention to Walleye fishing.
Think Spring!
